DESCRIPTION AND PHARMACOLOGICAL CLASS:

Bethanecol is a parasympathomimetic drug, choline ester type that acts as a selective antagonist of the muscarinic receptors from the Parasymphatic Nervous System, especially to the muscarinics receptor level M3 without any effect in the nicotinic receptors.

INDICATIONS:

Bethanecol by 0.25% formulation is indicated to increase the appetite pets, stimulate the digestive juices secretion and the gastric motility to protect the stomach.

DOSE AND ADMINISTRATION:

Spray in the mouth, 10 sprayers every time.

PERIOD:

2-3 times a day.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:

Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity.

WITHRAWAL PERIOD:

Not applicable.

STORAGE:

Store in dry and cool places. Protected from direct sunlight. Store between 0° and 30° C.

CONTRAINDICATIONS AND RESTRICTIONS:

Bethanecol use such as the rest of muscarinic agonists, it is contraindicated in pets with respiratory problems, peptic ulcer and urinary inconstancy. The parasympathomimetic action of this drug will exacerbate symptoms of these disorders.

ANTIDOTE:

Atropine it is taken according to the Veterinarian’s indications.
