DESCRIPTION:

Phenylbutazone it is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (AINE) originated form pyrazolones, indicated for the relief of chronic pain, including arthritis symptoms.

INDICATIONS:

  • For treatment associated with músculoskeletal system.
  • Acute laminitis also; arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, acute tenosynovitis, capsulitis, bursitis and rheumatism, decreasing pain and tissue inflammation and fever in viral infections.
  • It is used to increase the lifetime reproductive age stallions suffering osteoarthritis and other painful conditions in the legs.
  • In dogs it is also indicated in acute uveitis, chorioretinitis, endophthalmitis, corneal and eyeball injuries.

DOSE AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION:

  • Horses: 2.2 mg per kg of body weight every 12 hours during 5 days.
  • Dogs: 10 to 15 mg /kg of body weight every 12 hours during 2 days.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS:

  • Do not use in horses intended for food. Parenteral injections must be made only
  • intravenously. Do not inject subcutaneously or intramuscularly.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of drug allergy.
  • Sale under medical prescription.
  • Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity.

STORAGE:

Storage in dry and cool places. Protected from direct sunlight. Store between 0° and 30° C.

ADVERSE REACTIONS:

It can cause gastrointestinal effects (dyspepsia, ulcers, diarrhea, anorexia), decreased renal blood flow and blood dyscrasias.
